To put it briefly, she has changed my life in a matter of days. I have been reading the 1977 book, "Something Beautiful for God" which was a sort of complication of a Journalist's experience while visiting and interviewing with her then. In this simple contact this "Something" has actually awakened in me! Her words and the energy that surrounds the book (which simply refers to her and her words) is surely magically blessed! The words are blessed, SHE is so very blessed. I can feel her now as tears come to my eyes. We need this message so very much today. It is such a reversal of the selfishness with we live.....Likely the root of my recent unhappiness! This joyful feeling is something that has been lacking in my life, as I had lost this natural joy and spiritual connection which I had felt through most of my life. I had literally survived on blind faith alone. I am amazed, blessed and so very grateful and humbled by this feeling. Thank you Sister, Mother Teresa.

I have never seen Mother Teresa in person, but at one time when my soul (and perhaps my life itself) were in jeopardy, I wrote a short letter to her. "Dear Mother Teresa: Of all of the things that I could possibly do with my life, I would like most to do something like you are doing. I am afraid I am not able; not strong enough in the faith, in morality or in love. I live in a place where there is a downtrodden minority that I have watched in alleys and at the side of the road since I was 14. I feel so sorry for them and I would like to help them. I understand that charity begins at home. I wish so badly to meet you, be influenced by you personally, but I am a nobody. I am about 30 years old and I have two growing children who are cared for by my father. We need your prayers so much!" I had the idea that Mother Teresa might be like a busy politician and simply return a form letter, but I knew this was not true. Still, I thought, she is very busy and I have nothing to offer that she needs; she might not even read this. I wadded my letter up into a tight yellow ball and tossed it into the nearest wastebasket. I felt sure that I was not ready to follow in her footsteps at that time, possibly never. Even so, the day came when I was called upon to help Jesus here on earth. It was a little over two years after I tossed my letter away. I have no words sufficient to say how blessed and joyful I felt when helping my Alaska Native brothers. It was a prayer come true. Thank you, Mother Teresa, for shining the light into the darkness of my life and into the future.

Has truly changed my life. In 2003, after failing in many aspects of my life, I asked God to send me a job where I could earn enough to support my children. The job I got was in a bar where drug addicts, drunks, prostitutes, theifs and homeless abound. It was hard for my pride to go to work there but the bosses were and still are very fair and respectful to me and the clients have grown to form a family to me. A few months after I came to work there someone lent me a book of Mother Teresa Sayings on various subjects of Life and then I got another biography of hers at the church sale. She taught me many things and most of all to love. I started to apply her love to the customers at the bar. I started to feed the hungry and I gave my love and support to those in need. With time, many got better and even today, I had a prostitute come in and she asked for a hug and then told me that she was trying to go off drugs and she wants to take better care of her daughter. Just the fact that she is trying is an improvement. I have had men who used to beat up people for money go straight, others with big gambling problems quit. Many went into rehabilitation therapies and are still trying. People started to respect each other more and they care about one another. Other men from the Vietnam war come to cry at my bar…. And I listen with the Love that Mother Teresa taught me to give… Sometimes it is hard for me to hug these people… but I do… they need it… they need love more than anything and love is free and it is so hard for us to give it… but I try to do better everytime and Mother Teresa is my source of inspiration. Once someone pulled a gun on me and threathened to kill me. I calmly said to him: “You are going to shoot a mother of seven kids?” and he put down his gun and excused himself. I am sure Mother Teresa was there right beside me at that moment and that she inspired my words and helped lower the gun. Then I do voluntary work at the school by my house. The school is in an impoverished neighborhood and the kids are in need of so much love and recognition. The name of the school is Marie de l’Incarnation. The Virgin Mother that inspired Mother Teresa herself… When I am at the school and I am overwhelmed by the tasks and the responsibility I always pray Mother Teresa to guide me. And miracles happen. The impossible becomes possible and the children are happy. It is my 4th year there and she is still helping me out. My mom died last year…. Carmen ( my mom) was a woman of great love and great faith also …. I had to decide to let her rest. The home called me and asked if they should send her to the hospital or just make her comfortable. I said just make her comfortable… she was bed-ridden for a year, she had no more quality of life…. She was tired… Somehow without planning it and in very difficult circumstances all of her 5 children found ourselves at the feet of her bed her last day on earth. That was her last wish and God granted it to her. She deserved it and it happened by miracle. When she died I told her “ Go and sit by Mother Teresa… that is your place Mom….. and you know… I have this incredible feeling that they are sitting together in heaven and that both of them look over me and send me their love and protection… Nobody can take that belief away from me…. They are my two mothers and I am a mother too. I thank God for that. And I pray to Mother Teresa and to my Mom for all of those who have no love. Love is the greatest power on earth. Mother Teresa has taught us that. And I love her with all my heart just like my mom.
