Blessed Teresa of Calcutta,
you showed us the beauty of a life lived in and for love and you never stop reminding us
that we are all “created for greater things, to love and be loved."
Help us to live, like you,
a life of love that is worthy of our calling as children of God. Amen.

This significant anniversary gives us the opportunity to reflect on the life of “one of the most important figures of our time,” as our late Holy Father John Paul II called her, and the contribution this “humble Gospel messenger” has made to the Church and to the world. May her life, work and message inspire us anew and lead us to discover or rediscover the truth that God has “created us for GREATER THINGS: TO LOVE AND TO BE LOVED.”

WHERE THERE IS HATRED, I MAY BRING LOVE
WHERE THERE IS WRONG, I MAY BRING THE SPIRIT OF FORGIVENESS
WHERE THERE IS DISCORD, I MAY BRING HARMONY
WHERE THERE IS ERROR, I MAY BRING TRUTH
WHERE THERE IS DOUBT, I MAY BRING FAITH
WHERE THERE IS DESPAIR, I MAY BRING HOPE
WHERE THERE IS DARKNESS, I MAY BRING LIGHT
WHERE THERE IS SADNESS, I MAY BRING JOY
TO COMFORT THAN TO BE COMFORTED
TO UNDERSTAND THAN TO BE UNDERSTOOD
TO LOVE THAN TO BE LOVED
FOR IT IS BY FORGETTING SELF THAT ONE FINDS,
IT IS BY FORGIVING THAT ONE IS FORGIVEN, IT IS BY DYING THAT ONE AWAKENS TO ETERNAL LIFE.

PRAYER
“Love is the light - and in the end, the only light - that can always illuminate a world grown dim and give us the courage needed to keep living and working.” Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, help us to believe that “love is possible, and we are able to practice it because we are created in the image of God.” Like you, we want “to experience love and in this way to cause the light of God to enter into the world.”

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us!
